In addition to including the environmental dimension, to be defined as sustainable the infrastructure must also include considerations of the social dimension of the investment as well as the design of the multi-level governance and stakeholder and citizen relationship framework, based on the principles of subsidiarity, proportionality and partnership.
In this regard, specific sustainability studies and analyses have been developed that, through the measurement of specific indicators, make it possible to enhance the benefits offered by infrastructure projects and the ability to generate value in terms of economic, environmental, social and tourism development of territories.
