Excellence in safeguarding historical and cultural heritage passes through Italferr.

The growing sensitivity towards cultural heritage in the 1990s led to the need not only to study and experiment with new methodologies aimed at safeguarding and making accessible the "legacy" of our ancestors, but above all to make possible the realization of a public work of significant importance.

In this scenario, Italferr has equipped itself with a technical staff of archaeologists to directly carry out all the investigations required by the preventive verification of archaeological interest in the various design phases.

The company's archaeologists directly manage all phases of preventive verification, which include territorial studies, investigation design, execution of non-invasive investigations, core drilling, excavations, and subsequent enhancement of the findings. Particular attention is paid to optimizing the relationship between archaeological heritage and infrastructural development, environmental sustainability, interference management, and cost and time containment.

This integration between design and archaeology is reflected in a multidisciplinary approach, where archaeologists, engineers, and other specialists actively collaborate to achieve high-quality results. The goal is to carry out essential works for the country's development while respecting and enhancing the immense historical-archaeological heritage.

Highly qualified professionals are now responsible for preliminarily identifying ancient pre-existing structures and identifying the most effective solutions to resolve any interference between new railway works and the archaeological heritage, as well as enhancing the findings, through specialized projects, to spread knowledge of historical processes of use.

Italferr works in collaboration with the territorially competent Archaeological Superintendencies in Italy and is registered in the list of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism of operators authorized to draft the Archaeological Evaluation Document.
