On the Naples - Bari Route, that is the works on increasing the speed of and doubling the Frasso Telesino-Telese Section, financed using PNRR Funds, the future even-numbered track and related bends on the Frasso - Amorosi portion were put into operation on 00:00 on 7 April 2025.
The Frasso-Telese lot is 11,2 km long of which about 5 km have been constructed alongside the existing line.
This was done as part of the strategic aspect of phased opening, making it possible to deviate rail traffic onto the new track, thereby freeing up the rail reserve for construction of the odd-numbered track, which is a PNRR goal, planned for completion by June 2026.
The 7 April inauguration was only the first for the year, which will see Italferr's Naples-Bari team involved in a series of inaugurations along the entire railway line, which will reach its peak with the upcoming opening of the Cancello-Frasso, involving the entire route for the first time.
This important result was achieved by the teamwork involving all those involved: RFI as the Client, Italferr's Direction of Works and the contractors, whose dedication and organisation, made it possible to attain this planned goal, with an eye on the upcoming challenges awaiting them.
