On March 23, the approximately 700 m long section of correct track rails connecting track 3 at Ortona station to the odd-numbered track on the Pescara side on the historic line (sea side), including the "Castello" tunnel and part of the "Cemetery" tunnel, was put back into operation.
Activation required several interventions, each one managed by individual contracts, supervised by Italferr’s Works Supervision team that coordinated the different Departments involved, in synergy with the Territorial Infrastructure Operational Directions (DOIT) in Ancona.
The intervention involved several disciplines with specialized activities in the areas of Superstructure, Electric Traction and CCS, particularly with modifications to the Peripheral Post-Central Computerized Control Unit (PP-ACC) in Ortona and the Command and Control Multistation System (ACCM) of the Pescara-Termoli line, as well as the Ground Sub-System - Train Running Control System (SST - SCMT).
The activity, which is of particular relevance to rail traffic, is part of the larger project to double the Pescara-Bari line, a further step in the completion of the doubling of the Adriatic main line, and will bring benefits in terms of service, punctuality and optimization of travel times.
