On 6th March 2025, Italferr's General Assembly appointed the new Board of Directors for the 3-year period 2025-2027 and elected as President and CEO Prof. Eng. Dario Lo Bosco.
Full Professor and Dean of the Department of Civil Engineering, Energy, Environment and Materials 'DICEAM' in the University of Reggio Calabria, Head of the Scientific Disciplinary Area "Roads, Railways, Airports" and Director of the Research Laboratories of "V.I.A. of Territorial Infrastructures" and of "Engineering of Railway Infrastructures", Scientific Director of the "Collana Quaderni" of FS Academy, Prof. Eng. Lo Bosco has held several eminent roles in the FS Group, among which the Presidency of RFI and the Presidency of FS Academy and Technical Methodologies.
On his new appointment, Prof. Ing. Lo Bosco held his first collegial meeting on 13 March at the Company's Rome headquarters in Via Galati 71.
The meeting was an opportunity to outline the new challenges awaiting Italferr, considering the recent Industrial Plan shared by Group FS CEO Stefano Antonio Donnarumma.
Attending the meeting, there was the Management of our Company and the newly appointed Directors, Professor Irene Gionfriddo, Foreign Commercial Development, Business Affairs and Sustainability Manager, and Eng. Vincenzo Macello, Engineering & Operations Manager.
The day opened with the greetings of our CEO to the Group FS Chief Eng. Donnarumma for the trust and esteem accorded to him, and he then turned his gratitude to the Italferr team engaged abroad with a major engineering undertaking along the Himalayan mountain system in India, a subject to which the FS Group is particularly devoted, as a concrete demonstration of the distinctiveness of Italian engineering know-how.
Prof. Eng. Lo Bosco then went on to outline the fundamental objectives of our Company, in close synergy with the FS Group's mission: "to connect infrastructure networks and nodes to transnational European passenger and freight corridors, thanks to integrated mobility systems, while respecting safety and environmental quality, bringing forward increasingly advanced and hi-tech digital solutions in the country and around the world".
In this scenario, our Company takes a leading role thanks to the use of cutting-edge digital systems, including BIM_Building Information Modeling, of which Italferr is an example of excellence on the national and international scene.
This engineering driver makes it possible to improve the engineering of processes, affirming our Company with the FS Group as a leader in mobility: "competence, passion and rigour are essential for Italferr to increasingly represent the pride of Italian engineering in the world".
It is important to achieve the challenging goals of the 2025-2029 Industrial Plan not only in compliance with KPIs, but also with the fundamental principles of public ethics. On this last aspect, Prof. Eng. Lo Bosco highlighted the crucial value of training: "to attract new talents, spread our digital know-how and the distinctiveness of the skills and professionalism of the women and men who are proudly part of Italferr".
