Speed Trial Run for the Anji Khad Cable-Stayed Bridge in India

The Speed Trial was successfully conducted

In the framework of the design of the Anji Khad bridge, Italferr, entrusted with the detailed design and supervision in 2016, following the agreement with IRCON/KRCL, succesfully completed the speed trials of the train at 110km/h, thus confirming the bridge's structural stability and compliance with design standards.

This state-of-the-art cable-stayed bridge is the first of its kind for Indian Railways, showcasing advanced engineering and innovative design. The Anji Khad Bridge stands as a concrete testament to India's vision and commitment to enhancing transportation in the region of Jammu & Kashmir.

Such impressive structure will connect tunnel T2 and T3 on the Katra-Banihal section of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link project. Spanning a total length of 473.25 meters, including its approaches, the bridge will stretch majestically across the Anji Khad River.

Its main span of 290 meters will make it the longest cable-stayed bridge for Indian Railways, setting a new benchmark in bridge construction. The bridge is designed for a lifespan of 120 years and a maximum speed of 100 km/h.

The commissioning and operation of the bridge, with the inauguration of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla section, is expected in the coming weeks.
