Milan-Venice Line

Railway traffic has resumed

On 21 August 2024, railway traffic resumed regularly on the Milan-Venice Line.

The works, which involved the interruption of the section between Verona and Vicenza for 21 continuous days, allowed the relocation of the historic line between the stations of Verona Porta Vescovo and San Martino Buona Abergo (1.2 km) and between the stations of Montebello and Altavilla Tavernelle (5.8 km) to make room for the construction of future HS tracks.

The activities carried out under the Health & Safety Supervision and Works Supervision of Italferr, the engineering company of the FS Group, are part of the construction project of the new HS/HC Brescia-Verona-Padua line that will increase the capacity and regularity of passenger and freight rail service between Milan and Venice - yet another key step in the construction of the new Verona - Vicenza High Speed line.

Interruption of train traffic also allowed for the following actions to be carried out:

·       two new road underpasses in the municipality of Lonigo;

·       a pedestrian underpass and a road overpass in the Altavilla station;

·       new platforms in the Lonigo station;

·       the resolution of several critical interferences;

·       a series of demolitions within the Vicenza Station.

Italferr's team has once again proudly contributed to the construction of a great project for the future of our country.
