Verona-Brenner line

Technology upgrade Trento-Trento Roncafort section

Between 26 and 27 October 2024, Phase 1 of the new Alstom SML400 Hybrid technology Multistation Central Interlocking was activated on the Trento (i) - Trento Roncafort (i) section of the Verona - Brenner line, with a Multistation Control Centre built at the Verona Porta Nuova Control Room.

The activation is part of the complex of infrastructural and technological enhancement interventions that are part of the PNRR objectives and are preparatory to the future implementation of the ERTMS/ETCS L2 system on the Brenner line.

The Italferr Works Management Team was continuously present during the night-time interruption of the railway traffic, guaranteeing support for the activities of the yard, the cabin, the Central Post and post-activation.

An extremely challenging work, which saw the Company involved in all the processes of design, realisation, verification, activation and commissioning, thanks to which it was possible to achieve this important result.
