India: Line 7 of the Mumbai Metro is open to the public

Italferr in the project as General Consultant.

Italferr (Gruppo FS Infrastructure hub), in an international consortium including Ayesa SA, Ayesa India Ltd and Consulting Engineering Group Ltd, provided General Engineering Consultancy services for the construction of lines 7 and 2b of the Mumbai metro.

One of the most densely populated cities in the world with over 18 million inhabitants, Mumbai has implemented significant programs to improve the transport infrastructure and especially the rail infrastructure in order to improve traffic congestion and the high rate of pollution, largely due to road transport.

The Mumbai Metro System includes 9 corridors covering a length of 146.5 km, out of which 32.5 km is underground and the rest elevated.  The Metro Line 7, inaugurated by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stretches for about 17 km between Andheri East and Dahisar East with a total of 13 stations, while Line 2B extends for about 23 km between Nagar to Mandale and includes 22 stations, connecting the eastern and western suburbs of the city.

A great result also for Italferr, strenghtening its leadership in the Mass Transit sector.
