The Commission appointed by the Football Club Red Star Belgrade for the international competition held to find original solutions for modernizing the existing stadium and for the urban development of the surrounding area has issued its verdict.
The commission voted the project of the Italferr - CREW - IES d.o.o. teams the winner in the "Renovation Category".
The project involves the modernization of the existing 50,000-seat stadium and the master plan for the surrounding area of about 170,000 m2.
The proposed solution does not simply represent a sports-related building project but proposes a series of functional innovations that enable the stadium to be active 365 days a year, thus mapping out a sustainable financial development strategy for both the Red Star soccer club and the city of Belgrade.
The project fully embodies the concept of the modern stadium as a multipurpose container that generates profit and consequently enhances the standing of the team that owns it. At the same time, the project proposes an image that is as strongly recognizable as it is proportionate to the urban context in which it is set.
