Hundreds of people, including numerous industry experts from around the world, gathered on Friday 22 November at the BMO Centre in Calgary to attend the prestigious ‘Alberta Passenger Rail Forum’.
For the FS Group, in the forefront was Italferr's Area Manager America, Marco Stegher, who was called upon to share the vision, history of Italian railway development, experience, and firsts achieved in Italy and abroad for the benefit of the emerging Alberta Passenger Rail Master Plan, currently under development. This speech was highly appreciated and highlighted in the Forum's closing remarks as an example of alignment between political decisions-making and concrete development strategies.
The event promoted and supported by Alberta Premier Danielle Smith and Minister of Transport and Economic Corridors Devin Dreeshen brought together national and international stakeholders.
Key Canadian contributors included the CEO of Metrolinx, the Vice President of Project Delivery at Infrastructure Ontario, the Chief Strategic Policy & Partnerships Officer of VIA HFR, and the General Manager of CDPQ—entities of direct relevance to FS Group. From the international stage, valuable insights came from the Chief Deputy Secretary for Rail and Transit of the California State Transportation Agency, leaders from DB North America, RENFE, JR Central, and Alstom Canada, and others from the railway industry, construction, and consulting sectors.
It was an auspicious opportunity for Italferr and the FS Group to directly approach stakeholders and establish local follow-ups in the near future.
