Italferr is involved in the construction of the high-speed link between Salerno and Reggio Calabria, on a new route compared to the existing backbone lines.
THE PROJECT IS DIVIDED INTO FUNCTIONAL LOTS |
Lot 1a: Battipaglia-Romagnano, that allows to obtain benefits also as regards the Battipaglia-Potenza link |
Lot 1b: Romagnano-Praja, with interconnection with the Tyrrhenian backbone line |
Lot 2: Praja-Tarsia, with interconnection with the Metaponto-Sibari line |
Lot 3: Tarsia-Montalto (CS) |
Lot 4: Montalto-Lamezia Terme |
Subsequent lots: Lamezia Terme-Gioia Tauro and Gioia Tauro-Villa San Giovanni/Reggio Calabria |
Upon completion of the entire project, the Rome-Reggio Calabria travel time will be 3 hours and 40 minutes. The new infrastructure will therefore enable the development of new passenger traffic along the north-south axis of the peninsula, which will also benefit connections to and from Sicily.
