FRONTIERA-CURTICI-SIMERIA RAILWAY LINE
The contract covers one of the largest rail lines in Romania, part of the European project aimed at increasing freight and passenger rail connections.
Italferr has been awarded, in a grouping of enterprises, the contract for the verification of the works carried out during the rehabilitation of the Frontieră-Curtici-Simeria railway line, about 100 km long. The section is located on Axis 22 of the TEN-T Corridor (Rhine-Danube Corridor, Northern Branch), which provides the Nuremberg-Prague-Vienna-Budapest-Curtici-Simeria-Brasov-Bucharest-Constanza rail link). The work involves the implementation of ERTMS Level II and the GSMR signalling and telecommunications systems, as well as 15 stations and about 45 bridges and tunnels.
The purpose of the works is to modernise the railway infrastructure and superstructure of passenger trains to enable them to travel at a maximum speed of 160 km/h.
Work is currently under way.
