KANPUR METRO AND AGRA METRO

Italferr has been awarded by the Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC), in partnership with Spain's Typsa, the Project Management Consultancy (PMC) activities related to the design, procurement and works supervision of the Indian metro lines in Kanpur and Agra, two of the largest industrial cities in northern India, with a total urban population of more than 5.3 million.

The contract, signed in 2020 with Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC), has a duration of 5 years and involves the construction of 4 corridors with a total length of 62.6 km divided between Kanpur and Agra, which will include 57 Stations and 4 Depots.

Specifically, the new Kanpur metro line will be developed via two main corridors, the first from Kanpur to Naubasta (23.785 km) and the second from "Agricultural University" to Barra (8.60 km), for a total length of about 32 km, with 30 stations and 2 depots. The Agra metro line also will feature the construction of two corridors connecting Sikandra to Taj East Gate (14 km) and Agra Cantt to Kalindi Vihar (16.20 km), respectively, for a total length of about 30 km, with 27 stations and 2 depots.

This is Italferr's most important order in India, thanks to which the Company is confirmed as a leader not only in the High-Speed sector but also in the international metropolitan public transport scenario, becoming one of the main players in the Indian engineering market.

The entire project is financed with funds from the Indian government and from the European Investment Bank.
