LIMA METRO
The largest public investment in Peruvian history is strictly "Made in Italy"
The construction of Lima Metro Line 2 is currently the most important infrastructure project in Peru. Line 2, when completed, will have a transport capacity of about 660,000 passengers per day.
Italferr has signed in Peru the contract for the construction and management of Lima Metro Line 2, including the Line 4's branch line, for a total of 35 km of tunnels (27 km on the east-west line and 8 km between Avenida Elmer Faucett-Avenida Nèstor Gambetta span) and 35 stations (13 in El Callao and 22 in Lima, built using cut&cover as well as conventional excavation methods) featuring the passage of driverless trains.
The Metro Line 2 Consortium, the concessionaire of these activities and consisting of Dragados, FCC, Impregilo, COSAPI for the civil engineering works, Ansaldo STS for the systems and Ansaldo Breda for the supply of rolling stock, awarded Italferr the task of engineering coordination and integration, from the design phase to the construction and commissioning of the work. The assigned activities, to be carried out over 66 months, were aimed at the proper management of the three design and construction interfaces of the line, with the objective of identifying deficiencies or inconsistencies during the design and construction phases.
The contract, starting in April 2015 and lasting 66 months, required the presence of 5 full-time resources in Lima and a team of back up specialists from Rome, and ended in 2021.
