CASABLANCA-TANGERI MED RAILWAY LINE
With the new line, the European network will extend to Casablanca, the first high-speed station on the African continent and gateway to a metropolis with a population of over 4 million.
Italferr, in JV with Italcertifer, has been entrusted by the ONCF - Office National des Chemins de Fer with the design, supply, installation and commissioning of the safety and signalling system between Casablanca and Tangier Méditerranée. The line, consisting of the two Casablanca-Kenitra and Sidi Yahya-Ras R'Mel lots and 370 km long, will allow a maximum speed of 220 km/h and will be equipped with ERTMS level 1 signalling.
The central stations involved - Roches Noires, Casa Voyageurs, Triangle Casablanca and Ain Sebaa - play a relevant role from an economic/strategic point of view, connecting the center of the country with its suburbs.
The works were completed in 2018.
CASABLANCA HS STATION
Italferr was awarded first prize for the design of the new Casablanca HS station as part of the international architectural competition for the design of four major new stations, announced by the Moroccan Railways.
The project involved the construction of a station suspended 19 m above the existing tracks, with a covered surface area of 14,000 m² and connected to the existing colonial-era building. The station is connected to the city center by the new urban tramway and acts as a bridge between two neighbourhoods currently separated by the track bundle, thereby providing an opportunity for major urban redevelopment, including through the future multi-service hub.
