POINTE NOIRE-BRAZAVILLE RAILWAY LINE

Italferr engages in commercial agreements with the Republic of Congo for the development of the country's railway network.

In 2006, Italferr signed the commercial contracts for the design and supervision of works for the infrastructural and technological modernisation and upgrading of the railway line connecting the Port of Pointe Noire with the capital of the Republic of Congo, Brazzaville, the main artery of the African country.

Italferr oversaw the Kintelé district reconstruction project, with the construction of the new Brazzaville business center and the design of a metropolitan transport line that will connect the new district with the city center. The work included training personnel, supplying diagnostic equipment and rehabilitating the main railway line.

Within the same context, contracts were also signed for interventions aimed at upgrading the port and logistics infrastructure of the Port of PointeNoire: design of the extension of the railway line within the port and works supervision.

Italferr was also appointed by ICE (Agency for the promotion abroad and internationalisation of Italian companies), within the scope of Italy-Congo railway cooperation, to develop the update of the Master Plan (drawn up in 2004) for the development of the country's transport infrastructure. The activities included identification of critical points, territorial and socio-demographic context study, technical-economic analysis of improvement actions for existing networks, financial and social cost-benefit assessment, and finally identification of priority interventions for all transport modes.

The work was completed in 2018.
