HS Verona – Vicenza

On Thursday 6th February, the Italferr team working on the HS Verona – Vicenza construction site completed the excavation of the artificial tunnell GA01 at San Martino Buon Albergo, with the demolition of the last diaphragm, thus reaching an important milestone.

This project is a 2km-long underground work made with a top-down method, also known as "metodo Milano".
The complexity of this work lies in the fact that it crosses the A4 highway and the Verona bypass. 
A demanding challenge for all the workforce and the technicians involved, which was met by implementing temporary deviations from the existing viability.

The breakthrough of the tunnel was preceded by a ceremony attended by the General Contractor's top management, Iricav 2, RFI as the Client, Italferr's High Surveillance and Direction of Works and other important political institutions of the area: Vicepresident of the Veneto Region Elisa De Berti and San Giulio Furlani, Mayor of Martino Buon Albergo.
