India: the Anji Khad bridge takes shape

Work continues for the construction of the Anji Khad, the cable-stayed bridge on the Katra-Banihal section of the Udhampur Srinagar-Baramulla railway line, in the state of Jammu & Kashmir.
The work, designed by Italferr, is supported by 96 stays with an asymmetrical layout and a single tower placed on the more accessible side, considered the characteristic of the Anji river which flows in a deep gorge with sub-vertical walls. The total span of the cable-stayed part is 473.25 metres, with a length of the main span of 290 m and a height above bed level of 196 m.

The Anji Khad cable-stayed bridge is among the most significant works of the entire railway line that will cross the north-western region of India, along the slopes of Kashmir, up to the border with Pakistan.
