LUSAIL TRAM NETWORK
The newly developed "Waterfront" city in the state of Qatar located about 15 km north of the capital Doha
As part of the project for the Lusail Light Rail Transit (LLRT) System, Italferr executed, in Joint Venutre with prestigious international companies, the Project Management Consultancy Services and Technical Assistance in the works for the new tramway transport system in Lusail.
The contract included the completion of civil engineering works, the construction of technological and utility systems, the development of maintenance facilities, and the supply of rolling stock to serve the four lines planned (Orange, Pink, Turquoise e Purple), totalling 33 km in length, including 10 km in tunnels, 28 stations and 1 depot.
Designed to be an environmental and self-sufficient community, the city of Lusail will enjoy residential and commercial developments, including schools, healthcare facilities, shopping centres and more. The new LLRT network will serve the city's residents by providing an environmentally friendly transportation system that will connect the various inland areas of the new city and Lusail with Doha via the capital's new metro system.
The first 14 stations went into operation in 2022; the other 14 opened in 2024, completing the Pink and Orange Lines. The Turquoise and Purple lines are awaiting opening.
