On Sunday, 2 April 2023, at the end of 22 hours of partial disruption and 5 hours of total shutdown of traffic at the Tiburtina station, phase 5A of the General Redevelopment Plan of Roma Tiburtina was activated as part of the technological upgrade of the Rome Hub.
The intervention, conducted by Italferr's Integration Technologies and Projects Division - Central Italy Projects and Technologies Area, included the activities of Works Supervision, Safety Coordination and active involvement in the Technical Verification Commissions of seven different contracts.
This phase resulted in the connection of the tracks of the Sulmona line with the Freight line and the Val D'Ala stop, involving work on Superstructure and Electric Traction (TE) and the technological upgrade of the Computerised Central Interlocking (ACC)/Discontinuous Train Cab Signalling System (SCMT)/Auxiliary Supervision System (SSA) circulation management systems of Roma Tiburtina, the Relay Interlocking System (ACEI) and SCMT and mixed I.P. European Rail Traffic Management System (ERTMS)/SCMT and Centralised Traffic Control (CTC) of Roma Prenestina, the reconfiguration of the Multistation Computerised Central Interlocking (ACCM) of Module A and the realization of new Line Computerised Centrl Interlocking (ACCL) for the management of the Tiburtina/Prenestina railway section.
The activities engaged all corporate structures that oversaw the Definitive and Executive design/validation, ACC/ACCM Commissioning, Commissioning (MIS) and Interoperability phases.
